We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a part-time Bookkeeper, with a time commitment of 1-2 days/week (35-40 hours/month).  The successful candidate will join our finance group and will play an integral role in maintaining our daily operations and financial records.  Additional duties may include purchasing, tracking accounts payable, and maintaining employee records.  Alectos offers a competitive compensation package.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial records and manage payroll using Sage 50 Simply Accounting software.
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers, prepare financial statements, and assist with year-end tax preparation.
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms, and other government documents.
  • Assist with purchasing, accounts payable, and employee records.

Qualifications:

  • BSc including courses in accounting or bookkeeping, or completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field.
  • One to five years of experience as a bookkeeper or a similar position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of Sage 50 Simply Accounting software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, planning, and organizational capabilities.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, self-motivated, able to work independently.
