Position: Research Associate, Biochemistry

Alectos Therapeutics is a privately-held pharmaceutical company located in Burnaby, BC, dedicated to the discovery and development of novel small-molecule therapeutics for the treatment of human disease. We focus on preclinical target validation, hit-to-lead optimization and IND-enabling studies. Our most advanced programs are directed towards novel targets for neurodegenerative disease, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological disorders.

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our multi-disciplinary team in translating cutting-edge research into novel therapeutics. The successful candidate will join our biology group and will play an integral role in our efforts to assess new targets and develop and implement biochemical assays in support of our preclinical programs. Additional duties may include cloning and protein purification activities to support biology research and development. Alectos offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.


Develop and implement new assays to support medicinal chemistry programs.

Assess drug candidates using both in vitro and cell-based experiments.

Analyze and interpret data.

Prepare data summaries and technical reports to support internal decision making.

Participate in group and research meetings.


BSc or MSc in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field.

One to five years of experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on enzymology, protein biochemistry, and cell-based assays.

Experience with miniaturization of assays and high throughput screening is an asset.

Experience with cloning and protein purification is an asset.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, planning, and organizational capabilities.

Self-motivated, able to work independently.
